Primetals Technologies has received an order from Wuhan Iron and Steel Co. (WISCO) to supply a new six-strand bloom caster at its steelmaking facility in China. The project is part of WISCO's strategy to expand its production of high-end steel products for demanding industrial applications.

The new caster will have an annual production capacity of approximately 1.9 million metric tons and is designed to produce blooms for specialty steel grades used in sectors such as automotive, energy, machinery, and engineering.

Primetals will provide the complete casting solution, including mechanical equipment, automation systems, and process technologies aimed at improving productivity, product quality, and operational efficiency.

The investment is expected to enhance WISCO's capability to manufacture higher-value steel products while supporting the company's efforts to meet growing demand from advanced manufacturing industries.

Once operational, the new facility will strengthen WISCO's position in China's premium steel market and contribute to the modernization of its steel production infrastructure.
