Turkey’s Cold Rolled, Galvanized and Coated Steel Producers Association (SOGAD) has welcomed the government’s anti-dumping findings against imports from China and South Korea, but warned that the measures may not be strong enough to protect the domestic industry.
According to the investigation results, dumping margins were calculated at 34.85–36% for Chinese exporters and 10.48–27% for South Korean exporters.
SOGAD Secretary General Asuman Gürsoy said the margins for Chinese companies are significant but noted that duties on South Korean products remain below industry expectations.
In 2025, approximately 27% of Turkey’s imports of cold rolled, galvanized and pre-painted steel products originated from South Korea.
Gürsoy also warned that imports increased despite the ongoing investigation, with South Korean shipments rising 21% and Chinese shipments increasing 32% in 2025 compared with 2024.
The association said the sector is facing declining profitability and falling capacity utilization, adding that global protectionist measures such as EU quota cuts, the CBAM mechanism and US Section 232 tariffs could push exporters to redirect more steel shipments to Turkey.
