Peru’s National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) has announced the preliminary results of its antidumping investigation into imports of wire rod from China.
In a bid to prevent further injury to Peru’s domestic industry, INDECOPI has decided to implement provisional antidumping duties of $64.6 per metric ton on the affected imports.
Duty Effective Until October 23
The provisional duty takes effect immediately and will remain in force for four months, expiring on October 23, 2025. A final determination on permanent measures will be made before that date.
HS Codes Affected
The wire rod products under investigation are classified under the following Harmonized System (HS) codes:
-
7213.20.00.00
-
7213.91.10.00
-
7213.91.90.00
-
7213.99.00.00
This move highlights Peru’s increasing use of trade remedies to shield local manufacturers from what it views as unfair pricing practices by Chinese exporters.
