EU Extends Antidumping Duties on Chinese Organic Coated Steel Following Review

The European Commission has decided to maintain existing antidumping (AD) duties on certain organic coated steel imports from China, following the conclusion of an expiry review initiated earlier this year.

The review, which covered the period from January 1 to December 31, 2023, was requested by the European Steel Association (EUROFER) on February 2, 2024. EUROFER argued that allowing the duties to lapse would likely lead to continued or renewed dumping practices and injury to EU steel producers.

As a result, the antidumping duties—originally imposed in 2019—will remain in place, with rates ranging from 0% to 26.1% depending on the manufacturer.

The affected products fall under the EU Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers:
7210 70 80 11, 7210 70 80 91, 7212 40 80 01, 7212 40 80 21, 7212 40 80 82, 7225 99 00 11, 7225 99 00 91, 7226 99 70 11, and 7226 99 70 91.

The Commission concluded that the removal of duties would likely harm the EU industry, justifying the continued protection of domestic steelmakers from underpriced Chinese imports.
