Starting May 15, the Suez Canal Authority is offering a 15% discount on transit fees for container ships with a capacity of approximately 13,500 TEU and above, valid for the next 90 days. This initiative aims to encourage ships to return to the Red Sea route amid improved security conditions.
The discount responds to requests from container owners and operators, considering recent positive changes in the security situation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Revenues from Suez Canal transits have declined significantly over the past year due to security concerns.
While some shipping companies remain cautious, the Suez Canal Authority continues efforts to restore confidence and increase traffic through the canal.
