China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has reported a slight decline in average finished steel prices during the week of June 2 to June 8.
According to the official data, the average prices of major steel products registered week-on-week decreases, with:
-
Welded steel pipe down 0.8%
-
Rebar down 0.6%
-
Steel channels down 0.6%
In parallel, the prices of key coal varieties—essential to steel production—also edged downward:
-
Coking coal dropped 1.7%
-
Smoke-free lump coal fell 1.5%
-
Thermal coal declined slightly by 0.1%
The MOC attributed the overall softening to muted demand and stable supply across domestic markets.
