Bansal Wire Industries Limited (BWIL) has announced the commissioning of its expanded stainless steel wire manufacturing capacity, following a $65 million investment. The company’s total installed capacity has now increased to 360,000 metric tons (mt) per year, up from 220,000 mt, according to a statement released Tuesday.

With this development, the plant becomes India’s largest single-site producer of stainless steel wires, BWIL confirmed.

In a further boost to production capabilities, BWIL is already working on Phase II of the expansion, which will raise capacity to 420,000 mt per year, supported by an additional $9 million investment.

The company also revealed plans to establish a dedicated research and development (R&D) center at the plant. The facility will focus on innovating high-performance wire products and adopting advanced manufacturing processes such as induction tempering and oil tempering.

The upgraded facility will support the production of specialty wires including:

  • Low Relaxation Prestressed Concrete (LRPC) wires used in structural reinforcement

  • Brass-coated reinforced wires, applied in high-pressure rubber hoses

These wire products will cater to diverse sectors including automotive, construction, infrastructure, and engineering, serving both domestic and international markets.

BWIL’s expansion underscores India's growing prominence in high-grade industrial wire production, aimed at meeting rising global and domestic demand across critical industries.
