The European Union has extended the suspension of safeguard measures on imports of iron and steel from Ukraine for an additional three years, effective June 6, 2025. This decision aims to support Ukraine’s economy amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.
The suspension allows Ukrainian producers and exporters to continue accessing the EU market without the constraints of safeguard measures. However, the European Commission retains the authority to reintroduce measures if imports from Ukraine significantly harm the EU industry.
This extension reflects the EU’s commitment to assisting Ukraine during challenging times, ensuring that its steel industry remains viable and competitive in the international market.
