EU Drops Antidumping Probe on Chinese Seamless Pipe Imports After Complaint Withdrawal

The European Commission has officially terminated its antidumping investigation into imports of certain seamless steel pipes from China, following the withdrawal of the original complaint by the European Steel Tube Association (ESTA).

The investigation, which covered the period from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, had been launched on April 2, 2024, after ESTA alleged that a sharp rise in Chinese imports was causing material injury to EU producers.

However, with the complaint now withdrawn, the Commission concluded that continuing the investigation was no longer justified, effectively bringing the case to an end without the imposition of any trade measures.

The products in question are classified under the following Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers:
7304191020, 7304193020, 7304230020, 7304291020, 7304293020, 7304312030, 7304318030, 7304395030, 7304398230, 7304398320, 7304518930, 7304598230, and 7304598320.

The termination means no additional duties or restrictions will be applied to these seamless pipe imports from China, offering temporary relief to importers but raising questions for EU manufacturers about the future of trade defense in the sector.
