The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has initiated an antidumping (AD) investigation into carbon and alloy steel wire imports from 10 countries, suspecting they may be sold in Canada at unfairly low prices.

The countries under investigation are:
China, Taiwan, India, Italy, Malaysia, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.

The probe was triggered by a formal complaint lodged by Sivaco Wire Group and ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada, alleging price undercutting that could harm the domestic industry.

The CBSA will examine whether dumping is occurring and is expected to issue a preliminary determination within 90 days. If sufficient evidence is found, provisional duties could be imposed on the affected imports.

This move marks another step in Canada’s ongoing efforts to protect its domestic steel industry from unfair trade practices.
