The Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) has announced its final decision following a sunset review on antidumping duties for cold rolled coil (CRC) imports from several Asian countries.

As of today, Malaysia will maintain antidumping duties on CRC imports from China and Japan for an additional five years, citing continued unfair trade practices.

According to the ruling:

  • Dumping margins for Chinese producers are as follows:

    • Maanshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd – 4.76%

    • Angang Steel Company Limited – 4.82%

    • Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel Co., Ltd – 8.74%

    • All other Chinese producers – 26.38%

  • Japanese producers and exporters will face a flat dumping margin of 26.39%

In contrast, antidumping duties on imports from South Korea and Vietnam have been terminated, also effective June 23, 2025.

MITI’s decision comes after its review found that lifting duties on China and Japan would likely lead to continued dumping, harming Malaysia’s domestic steel industry. The ruling ensures continued protection for local producers, particularly in the face of global oversupply and pricing pressures.
