The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced an extension of the preliminary phase in its antidumping investigation into certain carbon and alloy steel wire imports originating from China, Taiwan, India, Italy, Malaysia, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.
Originally, the preliminary decision was due within 90 days of the investigation’s start, by April 22, 2025. However, the CBSA cited challenges in gathering sufficient evidence and the complexity of the issues involved as reasons for extending the investigation period.
New Deadline for Preliminary Decision
The investigation timeline has been extended to 135 days, with the new deadline for a preliminary determination or possible termination set for September 4, 2025.
This extension reflects the thoroughness required to assess potential dumping and ensure fair trade practices affecting Canada’s steel wire industry.
