Brazil's finished steel trade recorded a volume deficit but a value surplus in February 2025, according to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (SECEX).

In February, Brazil exported 225,972 metric tons (mt) of finished steel products, valued at $201.444 million, while imports totaled 228,627 mt worth $181.047 million. This represents a volume deficit of 2,654 mt, a significant improvement from the 199,780 mt deficit seen in January.

In terms of value, Brazil experienced a surplus of $20.397 million in February, a dramatic shift from the $128.838 million deficit recorded in January.

Key Export and Import Products

  • Exports in February were primarily coated flat products (52%), followed by hot-rolled coil (21%), wire rod (10%), and rebar (8%).

  • Imports included coated flat products (50%), cold-rolled coil (15%), and hot-rolled coil (9%).

This trade performance reflects improved export value despite a slight reduction in export volume compared to January, suggesting stronger market prices and favorable conditions for certain steel products.
