Turkish stainless steel manufacturer Sarıtaş Paslanmaz Çelik is significantly ramping up its solar energy investment as part of its push toward more sustainable steel production. The company announced the launch of the second phase of its solar power initiative at its Gebze Organized Industrial Zone plant, aiming to more than double its renewable energy usage.

The second phase, slated for commissioning in 2025, will boost the share of solar energy in the company’s operations from 25% to 55%. The first phase, which began operating in 2024, currently covers a quarter of the company’s electricity demand.

“Our solar power plant investment is a concrete indicator of our responsible production approach that strengthens our green steel production capacity,” said General Manager Selçuk Sarıtaş, underlining the facility’s integration of high-efficiency equipment and advanced automation systems focused on energy savings.

Key Details of the Solar Energy Project:

  • Planned Installed Capacity: 3.18 MWP

  • Expected Annual Energy Generation: 3,786,000 kWh

  • Annual CO₂ Emissions Reduction: 1,950 tons

  • Environmental Impact Equivalent: 172,992 trees saved per year

This strategic expansion positions Sarıtaş as a leader among Turkish steel producers aiming to decarbonize operations and align with global sustainability benchmarks. The move is expected to contribute significantly to the company’s green steel production goals while also reducing its environmental footprint.
