Swedish state-owned miner LKAB recorded a 40 percent increase in sales revenue in the first half of 2025, reaching MSEK 17,442 compared to MSEK 15,322 in the same period last year. The company said production conditions were more stable after earlier disruptions, which helped push up volumes and support higher revenue.
However, despite the top-line growth, profitability came under pressure. Operating profit rose modestly to MSEK 4,711 from MSEK 4,036 a year earlier, but global iron ore prices trended lower and the weaker U.S. dollar further eroded earnings. In the second quarter, the picture worsened: sales fell to MSEK 7,820 from MSEK 9,851 last year, while operating profit dropped sharply to MSEK 1,074, compared to MSEK 2,666 in Q2 2024. The company warned that continued price volatility will remain a challenge in the coming quarters.
