China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) reported a marginal decline in average finished steel prices during the period from May 5 to May 11.

According to the MOC, during this timeframe:

  • Rebar prices fell by 0.3% week-on-week

  • High-speed wire rod prices declined by 0.2%

  • Hot rolled steel strip prices dipped by 0.1%

In the coal market, similar softness was observed:

  • Thermal coal prices dropped 0.3%

  • Smoke-free lump coal and coking coal both declined by 0.1%

The slight downturn reflects moderate market adjustments amid ongoing fluctuations in demand and supply across China’s steel and energy sectors.
